Underground Electrical Infrastructure Inspection

Independent inspection of duct banks, vaults, conduit and cable installation, verified and documented before anything is buried.

Underground Utility Construction, Verified Before Backfill

Underground utility construction is the hardest work to check after the fact. Once a trench is backfilled or a duct bank is encased, depth, separation, conduit placement and cable condition are out of sight, and a defect can mean excavating and rebuilding later at many times the original cost.

RGC Power Group provides independent underground electrical infrastructure inspection for the owner. Our inspectors are on site while the work is open, verifying that trenching, boring, duct banks, vaults and manholes, conduit and cable installation match the approved design and specifications, and documenting it all with photos before it is covered.

We support utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, data center owners and developers with underground distribution, transmission duct bank, substation conduit and overhead-to-underground conversion projects across Texas and the surrounding states.

What We Inspect on Underground Projects

We inspect each step while it is still visible, so you have proof of how your underground infrastructure was built.

Trenching & Boring

Trench depth and width, directional bore paths and depths, locates and separation from other utilities verified against the design.

Verified & Documented

Duct Banks & Conduit

Conduit type, spacing, spacers, reinforcing and concrete encasement inspected before the duct bank is poured or covered.

Verified & Documented

Vaults & Manholes

Placement, grade, orientation, grounding and conduit entries checked for precast and cast-in-place vaults and manholes.

Verified & Documented

Cable Installation

Pulling tension, bending radius, lubricants and cable handling monitored, with cable condition protected during the pull.

Verified & Documented

Splices & Terminations

Splices, terminations and pad-mounted equipment connections inspected and documented to the manufacturer’s requirements.

Verified & Documented

Backfill & As-Builts

Backfill, compaction, warning tape and surface restoration verified, with accurate as-built locations and depths recorded.

Verified & Documented

How We Inspect Underground Construction

Our process is built around documenting work before it disappears.

01

Preconstruction

Design and constructability review, utility locates, and preconstruction condition surveys of the route.

02

Open-Trench Inspection

Daily inspection of excavation, duct banks, conduit and structures while they are open and accessible.

03

Cable & Equipment

Cable pulling, splicing, terminations and equipment installation monitored and photographed.

04

Restoration & Closeout

Backfill, restoration, as-built drawings and closeout documentation delivered to the owner.

Why Owners Use Independent Underground Inspection

RGC doesn’t perform underground construction. We work for the owner, so our only interest is that it is built right.

Proof Before It's Buried

Photos, measurements and daily reports give you a permanent record of work that can never be seen again once it is covered.

Avoid Costly Excavation

Depth, spacing and cable damage issues are caught while the trench is open, not after a failure forces you to dig it back up.

Accurate As-Builts

Verified locations and depths make future maintenance, expansions and locates safer and faster for your crews.

It is independent field verification that underground electrical work, including trenching and boring, duct banks, vaults, conduit, cable installation and terminations, is built to the approved design and specifications, documented before it is backfilled.

Conduit type and spacing, spacers and supports, reinforcing, depth and separation from other utilities, and concrete encasement, all verified and photographed before the duct bank is covered.

Yes. We document bore paths, depths and separation from existing utilities, and verify conduit installation and pulling for directionally bored crossings.

Yes. We monitor pulling tension, bending radius and cable handling, and inspect splices and terminations to the manufacturer’s requirements.

Yes. RGC provides independent oversight of underground power infrastructure for data centers, industrial sites and large-load interconnections, as well as utility underground distribution and transmission work.
